This is a short , highly rewarding excursion into the alpine eco-region. Starting at tree line, you easily move onto a high broad ridge, offering views of glaciers, wildlife and wildflowers unique to this rugged eco-region.
To reach the starting point of this hike, your professional interpreter travels along the Columbia Icefield's Parkway... "undeniably the most scenic drive in the world".
There are often sightings of wandering grizzly bears and rare white mountain goats, teetering on the jagged rocks, bordering the highway.
Don't forget to bring a camera!
The Columbia Icefields, one of two hydrological apexes in North America, are experienced on this trip along with a short side excursion to the toe of the Athabasca Glacier.
Expect to see wild flowers and wildlife!
Allow 8-9 hours total, round trip (minimum 3 persons; maximum 6) Provided, are transportation, professional interpretive guide and lunch.
